Task Scheduler

Hello,

I have a sync software that backs up certain files that I have changed. (i.e. .docx, .cdr etc)

I sometimes forget to start the program. so I created a task scheduler. I see that the only option to use is when the computer starts, or time of day. But I want to have it to start 5 minutes after I start my computer. (I want to avoid so many start-up programs which will slow down my restart)

How can I do this?

I want to do this for all my start-ups like Virus scanner, outlook, and misc programs.

Hello CodyB65 and welcome to the forums

Have you tried LaunchLater before? I think it's the sort of thing that you're after :)

Tom,

This seems to be awesome, so I DL and imported tasks. "CALC" popped up. What does that mean? Is yours the same? MS System File?

Hi Cody,

I don't use it myself, I have a friend who uses it. I haven't a clue why that's happening, can you attach a screenshot of what comes up please?

That's only an experimental tool at the moment, so you may have found a bug. Do you need to be able to choose when these items are loaded? Ie, in a specific order and at specific times. If not, then I would use Soluto instead. It's a great tool and part of it will allow you to delay startup items :)

I am aware that when you type "calc" in CMD & in start search that the calculator will open. But when Launchlater launches it, the calculator doesn't open.

Another good alternative and the one that I use is WinPatrol. It have many good uses.
It is free and is also a pseudo anti virus, telling you about any changes that occur in your system, approved or not.

If you want to run a program 5 minutes after startup you can do it with my Delayed Cuts utility. It's in the Free Programs for Vista thread:
http://www.vistax64.com/software/115872-free-software-list-vista-52.html#post1361367

Just drag a shortcut to the program you want to launch onto the ListView. When it asks for a delay put in 300 seconds for 5 minutes. Hit the Save Button then quit the app. It puts a shortcut to the delayed loader in your StartUp folder. See the Readme and About Dialog for options.
