For those who are curious, CrossFire doesn't make a bit of difference on the score. I got the same with one card as I get with 2 cards.

Does anyone else find the score for these processors a little low? Seems odd that 2 GB of RAM is somehow less limiting than a 3GHz dual-core.

Also, are most of you using RAID to get higher HD scores?

Hi Choogster,

Yes, for now 5.9 is the highest you can get until Microsoft updates the Window Experience Index Score to reflect changing systems over time.

I know there are some good posts regarding Windows Experience Score if you want to know more about it.

Here's my summary of understanding: When Vista was released, 5.0 was the highest score achievable based on the best hardware available at the time. I would guess they are using standard benchmarking tools and just readjusting the top end score as hardware improves - hence all the 5.9s.

So your processor is being rated against whatever processor happened to be the best when they bumped the score to 5.9 - note the Q-based machines are hitting the top. As for RAM, it appears to have less to do with quantity and more to do with throughput (operations per second), which encompasses far more than the sticks you have installed. My primary hard drive (WD Raptor) most likely IS the current benchmark and explains the 5.9.

Ahh that explains a lot, TBH when Vista came out I didn't pay much attention to the scores as my system was crap, now I'm at phase 2 of my new rig benchmarks and scores are at the top of my list.

I think a pair of raptors will be put on order next pay day

^Either that or if you wanna save some money get the Seagate 250GB Single Platter Drives,very very fast ,give the more EXPENSIVE Raptors a run for their money :D
