I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium x32. From Dell.
There are two issues that have frustrated me and I need help from the forum to resolve any one of them.
a) I am trying to access the folder "c:\document and settings" in VISTA but I can not, as the access is denied. In my effort solve the above issue, I read elsewhere that "it" is changed to c:\users. I tried that approach ( including allowing the systems administrators to be permitted) with the same results - access denied. After my further search on the topic, I learnt that I have to take the ownership of the "folder", but How do you do it? What is the process?
b) After failing to do the above, I managed to format the Hard Drive with the reinstalling disk from DELL. Thereafter I tried to load the XP Pro and I got the error message that there is no Hard Drive to load XP on.
It is frustrating.
I do not know why VISTA is so complicated. Even after paying them what MICROSOFT demands, I do not get to control MY computer, disk, program.(They have taken away my fax also and do not accept any other fax program.)
It took me million years to figure out to partition ( I am technically challenged person).
Following is the reply I read on the VISTA FORUM but the question is " How do you take the ownership from the "TRUSTED INSTALLER"? :D
Please help.
Thank you everyone in advance.
I figured it out -- you have to take ownership of the drive away from
the "TRusted Installer" account, which can be used only by Windows, and
assign it to one of your administrator accounts.
Strange indeed.
