Solved Problem with installing the Realtek HD audio driver

Hi,

I'd like to ask also about HD Audio Driver Software. What brand can you recommend for my Vista Home Premium? Because i really got a problem of reinstalling the realtek HD audio driver software. it says installing failure. 'cause i supposed to update it but it failed to. now the old version is uninstalled, while i cannot install it back 'cause of the failure. please give me some advise.

Hello W377ice,

If you have not already, you might see if you can uninstall it from Programs and Features, or the sound device from Device Manager. Afterwards, run the latest Realtek HD audio driver to see if it will let you install or repair.

There's no realtek HD Audio driver in programs and features. in device manager all i see is High Definition Audio Device. I lost the old version of Realtek HD Audio Driver software. i dont know what to do. and if i uninstall this High Definition Audio Device, what if i fail again about reinstalling the Realtek HD Audio. I will lost all the sounds. Is there any other way?

I just reinstalled succesfully the Realtek HD Audio Driver, but the problem is, i dont have the Realtek icon on my Control Panel. Help me up please...

In Device Manager, does it have it listed as the 6.0.1.5821 version for the sound device?

If not, then install the driver only one more time.

If it does, then the driver is installed and you may not have one available for your audio codec. :(

It's 6.0.1.5464. I didn't install the new version because of the failure. I just reinstall the old version which is originally installed when i bought this laptop.

Some laptops do not do well unless they use drivers from the OEM instead. You might check at you laptop manufacture's website to see if they have a newer driver version available than the 6.0.1.5464 one.

I see a Realtek HD Audio Manager in Control Panel in the other User Account,but in my Account, nothing. Lol... I dont know what's happening

LOL, that is strange. :confused:

You might check with these two tutorial to see if the Realtek HD Audio Manager was set to be hidden somehow in the Control Panel.

If this still fails to have it show, then create a new administrator account and see if it shows there. If it does, then you can copy the contents in your old C:\Users\(user name) folders into the new accounts corresponding C:\Users\(user name) folders. Afterwards, you can delete the old user account.

I just unhide the icon of Realtek HD Manager in control panel. 'Regedit'and enter. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don't load. In the right pane of "don't load" i saw RTSndMgr.cpl which is the Realtek Sound Manager, i just delete it and that's it, the icon appears in the Control Panel, and i'm happy now, lol....

hi there i am using Realtek HD audio driver 6.0.1.5735 got the update from Realtek, using Driver Max driver updater
the icon shows in the taskbar only if you enable it (bring up the Realtek sound manger,on the bottom right is an icon for info click on that and check display icon in notifacation area this worked for me in vista home preimum
