Secuirty Update KB973565 keeps failing

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium x86 (SP1) Due to multiple problems, I had to format the hard drive and restored the laptop back to factory settings. After Vista was installed, I installed Norton Internet Security. I ran all updates for NIS and then ran Windows Update and it installed over 135 updates without any problems. However, the security update for KB973565 won't update and shows "Some updates were not installed. Error(s) found: Code 80073715 Windows Updated encountered an unknown error"

I have tried the following things:
-I looked through the link for "Get Help with this error" but it was not useful.
-Ran \sfc scannow, found an error with tcpmon.ini
-Ran Microsoft Fixit & it said the problem was fixed
-Tried to run update again but it failed.
-Ran DiskCleanup & tried to run update again.
-Ran Chkdisk and then tried to run Windows Update again. It did install SP1 along with Office 2007 updates but the security update failed.
-Downloaded & ran CCleaner. Found 65 errors, which were corrected
-Tried to run the update again but it failed.
-Downloaded KB973565 & tried to install it manually but it failed.
-Logged in to Safe Mode and tried to manually install KB973565 but received message "Unable to install in safe mode".

I don't know what else to do at this point. The majority of info that I've found online to fix this is the same steps that I listed above which didn't help. Please help! I need to get this fixed ASAP.

Hello, from some articles I have read, if you managed to get the SP1 installed, then continue with updates til you have SP2 installed , note : you will need to restart computer often , then just keep on installing updates, The one that won't install now, should be taken care of by other Hot Fixes that you will get along with the SP2.

If the above does not solve your problem
Go to control panel
windows update
View update history
Look to make sure all the updates were installed correctly. Often with a large number of updates some are not correctly installed and it wii show on the update history

Richc46 - I've viewed the update history a few times but it always shows 4 entries of the KB973565 update as failed. I'll look at it again. Thanks for the help!

SP3 ??? Did you mean SP2 ? anyways. glad to hear you got it solved.
