Vista Home Premium updated tonight. Been several hours and stuck at "Installing update 6 of 18"??? How long does this take or is there a problem.

Hi. welcome to vistax64..
do you use to do updates on that machine regularly? what service pack is the windows on?
Do not turn off that pc at this stage and make sure its plug to the charger so that it don't run out of battery..

My Computer
There is a problem but as stated don't turn it off just yet. If it finishes go to windows update a set it to notify you when updates are available and install them in small batches manually.

- Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed

Yea bvtazman.. if its doing that its definitly doing something in the background.. it worth more to leave than try a force shutdown as vista is known too well of crashing windows if turn off during updates!!
