Solved Help with Windows Update 8024402F error

Hello, VistaForums Community.

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the following error code WindowsUpdate_8024402F

I have re-imaged my computer, and ever since, the windows update agent has not worked properly. I have not been able to update my OS in some time now. I have tried disabling antivirus, firewall, etc.

My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit, service pack 2 (I actually had to download it manually and install it).

Please point me in the right direction, if you could.

Nothing really worked from the article above, so I uninstalled all 3rd party security software, disabled firewall, and connected my computer to a direct lan internet connection, bypassing the router.

Same problem. Any ideas, my friend?

I performed the Windows Live OneCare scan; handy tool, it picked up on a couple of registry and temporary files minor errors. Corrected them, but did no good to the problem at hand.

Afterwards, I performed a SFC scan. This is what I came up with:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of th
em.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example

C:\Windows\system32>

I am attaching the CBS log zipped. Pls check it when you have the time, and let me know. Thanks for your assistance. This windows update thing is annoying.

Did you run sfc /scannow more than once. sometimes you need to run it about 3 times with a reboot between each run as it will only fix 1 file at a time.

Thank you for that incredible tool.

I really do not know what exactly helped the most, if the SFC scan, or the Windows Live OneCare scan. The thing is, after I restarted the computer, it went to download the win update files by itself. After downloading, it went to normal installation.

I really do want to thank you for your time and assistance. The computer seems to be working in prime condition.
