Windows Update Error 80070643, Installing Updates for MS Office 2003 S&T Edition.

I have 3 Updates I've been trying to install for a while, however they seem to keep failing. I've never had any issues previously with Windows Update, and I keep the computer relatively clean. I've tried a few troubleshooting steps ( Such as running my Registry Cleaner, Fix-its from Microsoft )

I am getting the Error 80070643. I ran the Fix-it from the Microsoft Website - Windows Update error 80070643 and the Microsoft Office Source Engine Service is already running.
I also went here, and ran the Fix-it which resets Windows Update, In Aggressive Mode - How do I reset Windows Update components?

Ran Windows Update again, Same error.

I’m running Windows Seven x64 Home Premium, I have not made any recent changes to my computer.


Either the Updates are bugged, or there's something else going on here. I'm going to try installing them from the Administrator Account - I am going to try in Normal Mode and In Safe Mode With Networking and post back the results. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful. Thanks :)

I've honestly never really had an issue with Updates. This is very odd.


**I tried Windows Update on Administrator with no success. I also tried to run it in Safe Mode, but it would not open.**

Yipes. I do not have an Office 2003 Disc, I actually used a license that I obtained from an older system, which is no longer in running condition. I have a Setup.exe file I got from Microsoft, I will, however, reinstall Office once I locate the file on my Backup Drive. Thanks for the response, I'll let you know the results.


NVM, I found a [hopefully] unaltered .iso on a file-sharing site. I'm downloading it now and will be burning a disc.

Yeah, I've got a license. Thanks - I'm a technician. I'm not necessarily a software guy however. :P

Windows I can troubleshoot pretty well, driver issues, etc.
Hardware is my specialty.
Never had this issue however.

No luck. Looks like I'll be reinstalling Office.

Well, I tried reinstalling Office. First thing I found odd is that I couldn't remove the updates, which I usually do before uninstalling Office. "Fatal Error During Installation"

So I try again from Control Panel > Uninstall a Program > "Fatal Error During Installation"

Tried uninstalling another program, and that one Uninstalled fine. Looks like my Office installation is corrupted!!!

-.- You've got to be kidding me.. Well, off to do some research I guess. Thanks for your help.

Nevermind, I used the disc, and I was able to Uninstall/Reinstall. Seems to be working fine now. Thanks.
