Windows won't check for updates

My computer continually starts up with the icon "windows can't check for updates", I have tried disabling/enabling Windows Firewall many times and re-trying the installation but nothing works! If anyone know how to fix this problem, I would greatly appreciate it!

i tried going to that site, and it did not help in anyway at all. it simply kept redirecting me to site after site. i just want a plain and simple answer to how to fix this problem. if it helps, the error code is 80072EFD. Thanks anyway for your help though
