Hello. I work as a computer repair technician on a college campus and had a question about windows updates. A little background, we do anywhere from 1 to 10 Vista installs a day, any version, mostly 32bit. We do have a program that will automatically install the OS for us and even some programs that we preconfigured. Pretty much we just enter the key and come back when the desktop appears. The install already contains SP1 and SP2. The problem comes when we go to update Vista, it takes FOREVER it seems like.
So my question is, is there any harm in downloading the Vista updates as standalone and having our Installer Program install them when the OS finishes installing. Is there a certain order that they have to be installed in? I also noticed that the Windows Update program installs some updates, has you restart, and then installs some more updates, and restart again. Would we have to restart in between update installs?
I've searched this forum and all over google and the only thing i can find is slipstreaming SP1 and SP2. We are just trying to make the install process faster so we can return the student computers back to them.
Thanks for any help!
