Ok, first of all, I want to apologize if this has been already answered here, but I am having a serious problem. A friend was having error messages when he booted up, when the desktop appered about 15 different errors appeared. the only one that I can remember was 0x000035, which I googled but I got different answers. I plugged my internet cable into the machine, and I found that there was 90 odd updates available for him, he hadnt updated for over a year. There was about 600mb of updates to download. I did this, including .netframeworks. it also upgraded to SP1 automatically. I also installed AVG Free and Spybot Search & Destroy because he was only using the free 3-month trial of norton(which is now well over a year old).Since then, his computer has gone so slow that its nearly impossible to use. It takes about 10-15 minutes to boot up now, and over a minute at least to open folders etc. I checked to see if it needed to be defraged, which it didnt, and I went to msconfig and switched off a lot of things in startup. This didnt help much. I dont know much about the specs of the computer, except that it is an Acer with (i think) 1 gb ram. Speed was not a problem before the updates, so I doubt that its a problem with the specs of the pc. Can anyone please help???
