Vista SP1 Indefinite loading screen

Hi guys. I've been having problems with when I try to install vista sp1 on my vista ultimate 32. I installed all the prereq updates and turned off my antivirus and everytime I try to install sp1 it finishes all 3 configuring updates stages it reboots and gets stuck on the vista black loading screen indefinitely. It's done this the last 6 times and rebooting does nothing, I can't access safe mode, and I have to system restore. My copy of windows is Legit and activated. Could it be something to do with OEM software?

I couldn't see SP1 in my list of Windows Updates. But I got this link from Martee (http://www.vistax64.com/member.php?u=114295):
Download details: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (KB936330)

This download will include all the previous Windows Updates, so you won't need to download these preceding updates.

Martee's link worked fine for me

When you are installing, has Microsoft added Nvidia drivers to the installation, or have you patched up using Nvidia drivers lately? They can wreak havoc.

This will be great for you if you can't get it to work.
