vista will not read .mdb files

New Member
I just purchased a new computer with vista x64 ultimate. I am in the process of transferring files and programs from my old system with windows xp. Some of the programs and files will not read on vista as .mdb files. Does anyone have a simple fix without having to buy microsoft office access.

    I have also used Fedora, Suse, Ubuntu Linux And all other Windows from 95 to date except ME
To open Access databases, you'll need *some* program that can read access databases.

Windows has never been able to natively read access databases.

For example, as Pooch said, you can use OpenOffice to open them, according to this documentation: Content
