Windows Update Problems - Cannot install SP1 and various other updates

I have had many update problems with windows update (including windows vista sp1) due to "Code 80070246." I have tried many things (not including reinstalling OS)...including
Stop error when you try to download updates from Windows Update on a computer that is running Windows Vista: "0x80070246"

However when i tried following those steps, i got to step 6 and the Windows AIK Command Prompt said it "cannot find the path specified." I'm pretty sure i have the same error as that one though, meaning a corrupted GlobalInstallOrder.xml file. I don't think it can find that file because I'm using a 64-bit system. Should i try doing the same thing as the microsoft site except replace Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_07289f4cca5f6990 with Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_63473ad082bcdac6 or do i have to do something else?

Maybe the problem isn't with GlobalInstallOrder.xml? I'm not really sure what to do.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium x64, if it helps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried running the sfc /scannow command but cmd stopped at 13% saying "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." When i ran sfc /verifyonly, "Windows Resource Protection found integrity violations."

I then looked at How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista and tried to open the file but when i typed in the command stated in the microsoft website, exactly as written, nothing happened. It just acted as if i didn't type anything.

Umm how do i check? Sorry i'm not really familiar with this stuff.
It ran when i restarted my computer and then my computer booted up like normal...

What's it supposed to do and how do i check what happened?

Wasd, you really need to help us out here. We are not sitting at your computer, and we cannot see what is going on. You need to tell us specifically what happens, taking screen shots would be a plus but is not mandatory.
For example, if you ran chkdsk /r on your system, what happened? Did you get a prompt to run it at reboot because the drive was in use? If so, did you reboot? how long did it run? Any errors at all found?

Yes, i had to reboot my computer in order for chkdsk /r to run.

Stage 1 - less than 30 seconds
Stage 2 - about 1 minute
Stage 3 - less than 30 seconds
Stage 4 - about 30 minutes
Stage 5 - about 10 minutes

After chkdsk /r ran, when my computer was starting, my comp said my system was clean.

I have pictures that i took with a camera... wasn't sure if i could hit the screenshot button on my comp. I'll upload them later once i figure out how to downsize them because each image is 4+ mb...
