Vista - vista joining domain

Hello all,

I have vista business on vmware workstation 6......I can connect to internet but not able to join the domain.

error message:
the following error occured attempting to join the domain...
the remote procedure call failed and did not execute.

need some help

Is the Vista VM properly configured for the DNS service provided by the
Domain as well as any firewalls you are running on the VMWare host open for
all of the required ports for Domain joining and ongoing usage ?

the vista VM is properly configured for the DNS service provided by the Domain!!!!!!!!!!!
all firewalls on server, on vista vm client(guest) and vmware host (XP SP2)) are off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would you please let me know the ports to open on the vmware host(XP Sp2), the so called required ports for domain joining and ongoing usage.

PS: I can join the domain with vista vm on Virtual PC 2007 ......but with vmware workstation 6 I can not.....

Interesting - if the same PC running Virtual PC can have a Vista image
running ion VM join a domain and the same machine running a VMWare product
cannot get a similar install of Vista to join a domain then that suggests
there is a problem with the VMWare product or the configuration of the
virtual machine (possibly networking) under VMWare and it is not related to
the network settings on the host PC.
