Hi all,
The first symptoms I had were automatic system restore points were not being taken.
I looked in the Task Scheduler and I see that ALL of the default tasks are failing with
80070005 (access denied) followed by 80070102 (timeout).
I reloaded one or two of them from a backup of the \windows\system32\tasks XML's,
but they still failed. I got an idea from somewhere, I disabled UAC and rebooted.
Now all the tasks are working. I don't think it's a Task Scheduler problem,
but something is wrong with the UAC mechanism.
Another symptoms is in the event viewer.
When you open events and click on / "More Information" - "Event log online help"
This would normally open a browser window and MS would show you more info about the error?
This only works when UAC is disabled. When clicking with UAC on, nothing happens at all .
I'm using my normal administrator account. I created a second, but the problems are the same.
Anybody heard of anything like this?
