Rickroll virus/trojan

I downloaded a video on my Vista.

It looked like an MP4 file but was actually an .exe that rickrolled me playing the Rick Astley song.

Is this also a virus/trojan?

And which software is best to scan my Vista?

I would use any standard anti virus. Personally, I use Microsoft Security Essentials.
Download and scan with malwarebyes.
Then use the free one scan online eset scanner. If these are clear you are safe.
If it were me however, I would also use a system restore from a week before you became infected.
Virus cannot get into restore points, but the virus can be on your stuff, which is not changed by restore

I would do all of the above. Now all that being said, if it were really the rickroll virus, it is harmless. It is a prank to piddle you off and guess what, it seems to work. We cannot be sure, however, what it was.

it looks like all my browsers home pages were changed to Start Page. I will do what you wrote and am also following instructions I found here Remove Trojan.StartPage virus (Removal Guide)

whatever happened, it deleted my Vietnamese-English dictionary and may have deletd some other things.
