When I boot up Vista Ultimate (32 bit), all appears normal EXCEPT that I received a message 'c:\Windows\system32\ctrlcal.dll missing'. Since then I've been getting error message when attempting to download anything - get a "file.xxx has a virus and ha been deleted". I check system32 and sure enough ctrlcal.dll is not there - I (or some other program I was uninstalling) obviously blew it away.
Through a combination of Google Chrome, was able to download and install Firefox - download work fine, BUT I am an Explorer (9) fan and want to get it working. I am also getting automatically-generated requests to take surveys when I open almost ANY page - most annying (firefox or IEXPLORER) - don't know if others are having the same issue.
Uninstalled McAffee and installed Norton when the "filename.xxx has a visurs and has been deleted" msgs started - have done full scans to no avail.
