What Is the Best Free security Protection for my computer?

Hi, I would like some opinions about the best Virus Protection,...I am running Vista basic Home, 32 2gb ram 1,8ghz proc and 130gb HD.... I have Microsoft security Suite right now, but I know that is not enough...I Had Noton and it was not up to par..It Slowed My computer down and ate up my resources...I could not do anything during scan...Also I did a cfs /SCANNOW tonight and it said there was some damage or corruption...Anyway to help remedy the situation...I dont want too many fix it software on my computer slowing it down...I just want better computing exoerience on the web and watching video files....

Dont forget programs like win patrol and secunia. They are not anti virus or anti malware, technically, but they are awesome supplements. One will tell you when security is out of date. The WinPatrol will notifiy you if something unauthorized is making changes to your computer. Its awesome
