Hi,
Are you happy with your bank details being on the computer?
8 out of 10 web browsers vulnerable to cyber criminals
As many as 8 in 10 web browsers are vulnerable to hackers and criminals because they ARE NOT kept up-to-date, researchers have found.
The vast majority of users are not following the basic precaution of installing
patches for known security holes, making them a relatively easy prey for identity thieves and other attackers.
Within the Vista Forum I have seen many questions and queries about the attack on computer systems with virus’s, Trojans and many more equally vicious ‘nasties’ trying to creep into and destroy your data, corrupt files, etc, etc. I include myself in the above where my computer had problems.
Always these concerns and problems are dealt with expertly by the resident team of experts. Particularly Jacee.who seems to be always in demand.
BUT are we forgetting, and being complacent about the other ‘nasties’ the security protection against ‘Cyber Crime’?
The above research indicates a lot of us are not being vigilant enough.
In the UK alone cyber crime costs consumers £3 billion per year
The findings indicated that the particularly vulnerable was Java plug –ins, Adobe’s Reader plug –in. For the hackers to steal sensitive data such as internet banking credentials.
As I ‘m sure most of you are aware in October last year Java introduced 29 patches labelled ‘critical’
A question posed last week by pacinitaly ‘When was the last time you checked your security’ ? ‘Indeed’?
Apart from reminding Everyone out there of the constant dangers.
“Will the next generation of browsers and websites help solve the problem?
“Will the introduction of HTML5 mean many of the functions currently provided by plug – ins be incorporated into automatically – updated browsers”?????
'I do not seek to follow in the footsteps
of the men of old,
I seek the things they sought.
