I have tried getting my WPA2 password from my router but can't get into the page using "admin" "password" etc or any other combination. This laptop has it stored somewhere in vista because when I turn it on it automatically connects to my network. My other computers have lost the stored code and I want to get it from wherever it is stored here in Vista so I can input it back into my other machines. Can anyone help me?
If this happens again, connect to the wireless network with the computer that knows the password, then do Start/Orb -> Run/Search, ncpa.cpl [Enter]
In the Network Connections window that opens, click on the Wireless Network Connection. Then click View status of this connection (on the 'Organize' toolbar).
In the Wireless Network Connection Status window that opens, click the Wireless Properties button.
In the [network name] Wireless Network Properties page that opens, click the 'link' that says Copy this network profile to a USB flash drive. You'll be prompted to insert a USB key (even if you already plugged it in), but about any removable media the application will use are listed... select one and click Next.
Now when you insert that USB stick/SD card/whatever into the windows computer that doesn't know the password, one of the options offered in the Autoplay window, which appears after the medium is scanned, should be "Connect to a wireless network" - if you choose that option, the wireless network settings should be replicated to the new/different computer.
The final window that appears when copying the settings to the USB drive says it should work with any win7, vista or XP computer, but in my experience the WPA2 password setting is NOT transferred to XP machines correctly... still, that method should work between vista<->vista, 7<->7 and vista<->7 with no problem.
