Symantec sponsored a study by Dennis Technology Lab which concluded that Norton Antivirus 2009 is superior to Microsoft Security Essentials in on-demand scans as well as real-time protection.
When we contacted a few antivirus makers
earlier this week to find out their thoughts about the release of Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), Redmond's free anti-malware solution, some were more prepared than others. Two were fine with Microsoft's foray into the free antivirus market, but two others were not. Symantec was in the latter group, and it went the extra mile by sending us a study titled "Norton Antivirus 2009 Versus Microsoft Security Essentials: A Comparative Anti-Malware Test."
