Solved Uninstall Comodo Pro Firewall

Can anyone help me with uninstalling Comodo completely? I have uninstalled using windows and everything seemed ok. However, using Security Center, Comodo is still showing as installed. Have tried using Revo Uninstaller and also a registry cleaned. Have also tried Scans with Spybot and Adware but it still sits there in an 'on' state. I have tried to reinstall Comodo but get the message that 'Comodo is already installed and would I like to uninstall now'.When I click ok to uninstall the box disappears but nothing else happens. So it appears that I am stuck with this firewall but there is no way to access it as the only reference to it is via Security Center. The next step is throwing the window......can someone please assist in this. Not too technically minded so worried about any remedies involving regedit or cmd !

I have tried the CFP 3 Registry+File Cleaner with no success. All it did was kill the internet connection and i had to use 'system restore' so looking at other option !

Did you try the long way? Full Removal of Comodo Firewall Pro 3 with SafeSurf Toolbar (If Regular Uninstall Method Fails)

1. Mandatory: create a System Restore point and label it appropriately. Optionally, perform a full backup of your system (you should be doing this, anyway).

2. Temporarily disable your Internet connection and shut down ALL unnecessary processes using Task Manager (a utility called EndItAll can make this task easier).

There are other things to do, but I would make sure to follow the rules.

Hello Stefano, just a silly thought.

Have you tried to re-enable the built in "Windows Fire Wall" to see if that will disable CFP?

Helo Bare Foot Kid,
Yes I have re-enabled Windows Firewall but now system shows both running so I have diabled it again. Only a novice so worried about the Full Removal of Comodo Firewall Pro 3 with SafeSurf Toolbar (If Regular Uninstall Method Fails)
Seems a little difficult for me. I did download CFP 3 Registry+File Cleaner with no success. At the moment I am unable to download any other reg cleaners etc as whenever I try I get the message 'unable to connect to web server' which I'm thinking is caused by Comodo blocking the connection ??

Hi Steve,

To see if Comodo is blocking the program from connecting and to unblock it:

Right click on the Comodo tray icon and click on Open.
Click on the Firewall button at the top.
Click on the Advanced button to the left.
Click on the Network Security Policy link.
Look for anything with a red X in a cricle that is set to be blocked to see if it is that program you want not to be blocked.
- If it is, then click on it to highlight it, and click the Edit button to the right.
- Change the Action to allow and click Apply.
- Repeat for any other entries for that program you find.
Click Apply .

Hi Brink,
The problem is that I have uninstalled comodo but it still shows as 'on' in security centre even though it shows as uinstalled.There aer still register residues but no icon in the system tray. I have tried a search for comodo but windows can't find it even though its sat in the registry keys. Don't know where to go from here.

Steve,

Have you already looked in Services and made sure that the COMODO Firewall Pro Helper Service is stopped and disbled if listed?

When you uninstalled COMODO from Programs and Features, did you turn it off and disabled it first?

When you searched the registry, did you use the Edit and Find/Find Next option while using Comodo to search for and right click on and Delete all entries found?

Going in the "Registry" isn't too difficult; but you may want to have a look to see,
once you get there you don't have to do 'anything'.

Hello Shawn and Ted,
Shawn, Unfotunately I did not disable Comodo before I uninstalled it so that's possibly the problem? It was not disabled in services so I have disabled it now but even after yet another reboot it remains disabled in services but 'on' in security center......what's that all about ? I used the 'CFP_3_File_Registry_Cleaner' link as advised and went through the registry and deleted everything except the 'Legacy Keys' which would not permit me to and I tried to change the permissions, again it would not allow this. When I rebooted I had no internet settings and had to resort in the end to yet another system restore.
Ted, since the 'system restore' my registry appears exactly as your screenshot so everything I deleted has now been restored. On the upside, everything is working ok and I have protection. On the downside, I have not been able to download any applications as they cannot 'connect to the webserver/update server' to complete installation. I presume this is down to Comodo but guess I am stuck with it!
Thank you both for your help. If you have any other suggestions for a moderately skilled user ...............

Oh My God !!
Don't know if I really want to go there. This may be totally stupid and forgive my ignorance but I don't have any disc as it came pre-loaded or is there something you can do to wipe everything and start again ? I presume I would have to back everything up on disc. I already save important stuff so that's not too big a problem, it's just the total inconvenience and time scale, but if that's what it takes.....

Your computer will most likely have a recovery partition (D: drive) that will do reinstall Vista back to the factory state. You usually press a key (ex: F10 or F11) during bootup to enter the recovery manager to do this. You should also have an option to create a Vista Recovery CD/DVD from the recovery partition to have just in case something happens to the hard drive. Double check you computers documents to be sure though. If you do not have them, then post back your computer brand and model. I will post back a link for them.

It's a HP DV6000,there's a HP Recovery drive (D). Is that the one to use?

Hello Stefano.

As I have an HP also and I have done "Factory Recoveries" several times, here's how.

HP Recovery Center

The "HP Recovery Center" will give you the option to send to backup anything you
don't want to lose, so have backup media available to use if you choose this option.

With the machine off press the power button, as soon as you do that start tapping the F11 key.
That should take you to the HP Recovery Center. When there just follow the prompts.
It is pretty much self explanatory. From the time you boot into F11 (not counting
any backups you choose to make) you should be back on a working desktop in about
30 minutes. After it restarts just follow the prompts again to finish the process.

If your first option is system restore select no, which should take you to system recovery.
You want to try system recovery not system restore, unless you have good restore points!

Hello Ted!
Am I right in thinking System Recovery will clear everything including Comodo and I can start again with antivirus and firewalls etc.? Will I also have to install my camera software etc.?

Steve,

Doing the factory restore option will wipe everything out and restore it back like it was the first day you got it and turned it on. Anything you have installed after that, will need to be reinstalled by you again.

Excellent, thanks for that. I think it looks like that is my best option so I guess when I'm on vacation from work next weekend will be D-Day,
