OK...I have a Vista Business machine and a Vista Home Premium machine. I want to share a Folder from the Vista Business machine to my kids Vista Home Premium machine...family photo's and such. I have it shared on my machine, but they can't connect to the drive from their machine. What am I missing? Getting "Access Denied" and I have permissions set to read only instead of full control. Advice and pointers are welcome. BTW, they are on a wireless PC that connects via my LinkSys Router. This is all on a HOME network.
Can the Home Premium machine even see the Vista machine at all? Have you tried using the Public folders instead? And even though you say you're on a Home network / LAN, is the Vista Business machine ever used as a part of a Corporate machine / domain user?

I can see the VB machine just fine from the VHP machine. I just can't map a network drive to a folder I have shared out. Maybe I'll just switch it to the publich folder. But there has to be a way to share a "non-public" folder between 2 Vista machines.
Well, this is a recurring problem in Vista for some reason - I think it has to do partially with usernames and such, but that is ridiculous - there should be allowed some access. Some of these may have to do with the Guest account being turned off....
But public folder is like having guest access....and that may be one of the reasons why it is hard to share other folders in Vista....because they are *not* designated as public by design.
