Sound is crackling, extremly Annoying!

this has never happoned before, it started when i was installing a game called "Tactical Intervention" its a first person shooter, online, its not a disk game, its one you download and install, i even uninstalled it and deleted all files that came with it and my audio is still crackling and shuts off, no sound yet still crackles, i did not turn the sound off, the sound just stops and i still hear the crackling sound, its sounds like a crappy tv with crappy reseption, i searched up the problem and found others having same problem, so i followed what helped someone else but it did not help me, i uninstalled the realtek hd audio and reinstalled it, that did not fix it, so i regestered to the forums where i found that possible fix and here i am, looking for help, i have this feeling that nothing is going to help, in my life time, i have had, maybe 3 times success with help, the other 99% of the time i look for help, i get ignored, helped but in the end it does not work/fix the problem and then ignored, other times people just say they don't know and can not help:sa:, so i hope i get get help here.

my OS is vista home premium 32bit, pc is an HP, im using hdmi connection ofr video and audio because thats all i got, idk what else to tell ya, ill be stairing at this page refeshing it every minute, if i can even wait that long, untill someone helps, i am angery but i am respectful to others so please don't think that ill be saying bad stuff, can't wait for help on this matter, im very inpationt, idk how to spell that word.

You're not being ignored. Everybody in the forum is a volunteer and has their own personal life so, instant gratification is not guaranteed.

Have you tried a system restore to before you installed the software?

no, i have too much to lose, its just crackling and sound muting, there has to be another way, i don't need to nuke a city just to get get one criminal, if ya know what im trying to say, any other ideas?

I don't understand what you have to lose by doing a system restore. All you're doing is restoring your system to what it was before doing updates and installing the software. Takes about 10 minutes. You're not reinstalling the operating system.

If you run dxdiag.exe, what does it show for Sound 1? (make sure you're using either 32 bit or 64 bit, whichever your system is.

You can also run sfc /scannow from an administrator command prompt.

[edit} ok, so i checked the sound driver using "directx diagnostic tool", and its out of date, i hope it will fix the crackling, the crackling started when i was installing an online game, so idk how my audio got messed up by that.

[Edit2} i had alot said on this reply, but i don't need it, a system restore does fix most problems, but it was not an option for me, no way to back up anything, as you have read, my audio driver was out of date, so i updated it and it seems to have worked, so far, no crackling in games, non at all, thanks for the help, i would have not found out a way to fix it with out your help, thanks again, ill be keeping this thread bookmarked just incase the audio starts crackling again, thanks again for the help.

ok its happoning again, when i played call of duty: mw3, my audio started crackling, and now its crackling no matter what i do, how does this happon?, why would a game effect the audio like that?

I think these games install their own .dll's, etc. that sometimes may conflict with the system files.

You could try running sfc /scannow from an administrator command prompt just to see if that helps. Certainly won't hurt anything. You could also run the Microsoft FixIt on the sound.

sfc/scannow did not work, nothing happoned, and fixit found no problems with the audio, im looking up .dll audio conflects, there seems to be a bit on the subject, ill tell ya if anything helps, thanks again.

[Edit} ok i did not even play a game today, all i did was watch some youtube videos and it started crackling after 10 minutes of videos, plus it starts crackling alot more when i am typing....


[Edit2} ok i turned the volume to 0 and its still crackling, but when i turn the monitor volume to 0, there is so crackling....

I mentioned that you need to run the scan from a Administrator command prompt. To do that, click on Start\Programs. Find Command Prompt. Right click on it and select "run as administrator". Type in SFC /Scannow (note the space between C and /.

so what em i to get from this scan?

It will check system files to see if any are corrupted and will attempt to fix them. Usually, if it finds and fixes any problems, you should run it again.

ya i did that and there was no problems found, i found an extra hard drive and backed up all my stuff then did a system restore, and its still crackling...


[Edit} i think its the monitors speakers, so i hooked up speakers and a sub-woofer, but no sound is coming out, i even looked that up and found nothing that can help, im thinking its because im using an hdmi cord for video and sound, from the monitor to the graphics card, i know i can't get any downloads for the graphics card because its not supported anymore, there was a recall for it, its a Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS, the recall was because of the fan making noise, i did not send it in because there was a piece missing off the card that made the fan work, i have been using an external fan for a few years, i did not think that i would get a replacement card if it was damaged, all i need to do, i think, is get a vga cord and then the computer will see that there is speakers plugged in, and i can then set the speakers as default, hopefully, unless you know of some way to get the speakers to work while im using an hdmi cord.

From all I can see, the problem began with installing game files. An update to the sound driver stopped it. Then it came back when you started playing another game. That doesn't sound like a hardware connection problem. If your monitor setup has an option to do a factory reset, you could try that.

You could also try rolling back the driver on for your video card or installing a new one, if available.

I assume you connected the sound system with RCA jacks to the computer, not the monitor. You could cross check to make sure you connected them properly. Did you reboot after connecting the speakers?

idk how to roll back the driver, plus i did a system restore and when i first got to the desktop(no updates or drivers installed) it was still crackling, i don't have an extra graphics card and i will never have he money for one, i made sure everything is plugged it correctly and rebooted still no sound and still no other options for sound just the hdmi option.

[Edit2} no matter what game i play, the sound crackles and then the sound shuts off, the volume control still works but no sound comes out, even if there is no sound that can be heard, audio still crackles.

To roll back the driver, open Device Manager in Control Panel. Select Display Adapters. Double click on your video card. Select the Driver tab and then Roll Back the Driver. Some video cards have sound controls and I just want to see what effect this has. What is your graphics card.

What is your monitor? Does it have buttons for making adjustments? If so, is there a factory reset?

When you rebooted after connecting the speakers, did Windows try to find the software for them? You might want to disconnect them, shut down, reconnect them and then boot.

my graphics card is: Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS
my monitor is: HP w2207h
it does have buttons to adjust volume and other stuff
idk about a factory reset, never knew a monitor could save stuff
i plugged in the speakers when the pc was shut down so i started it after, it was not a reset, windows did not try to search for anything, the speakers are from "Creative", a sud woofer and two small speakers, the speakers plug into the sub woofer and the sub woofer has this cord with 3 connection at each end, Pink, Black, Light Green.

On my monitor, one of the controls is Input Selection. Since I can't use HDMI, I just have DVI or D-Sub. If you have such an option, check to make sure it's on HDMI.

If you go to Control Panel\Sounds, are speakers shown in the Playback tab? If so, click on it and select Properties. It should show the connections. In addition, in the Playback tab, what is controlling the Sound? Maybe you can provide a screen shot.

i selected the factory reset but the screen did not flicker, nothing really happened.

nothing has shown up in playback tap, and still is not, what do you mean by controlling the sound?, there is a volume control like every other computer at the bottom left corner.

In the Playback tab, right click and select Show disabled Devices. Is anything shown? I'm not sure how you're getting any sound at all with nothing in the Playback tab.
