Solved USB Sound Card

Gday fellas
At the moment I have an Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio installed,an Edifier Speaker System, is using my Soundcard.

A SteelSeries V2 Siberia Headset, and two generic USB Sound Card Adapters.


The one that will pick up my mic, is being held together with Sticky Tape, the second one, while Vista can hear it, Skype cannot.


I use Skype quite a bit, and my speakers are playing music 24/7.


So I am after a USB adapter that will take the two 3.5mm jacks, and not only hear but also allow me to speak.

I have been looking at the Creative Sound Blaster Play! USB Sound Card and the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go Pro USB Sound Card 3D. What I would like to know is if both will run off a USB 2 Hub. The generic one I have at the moment is, I have USB 2 Hubs galore, and as I quite often take my headset with me when I travel, the ease of unplugging it from a Hub is essential.


The other one I am looking at is the SteelSeries Siberia USB Sound Card. Once again, I need it to run off a Hub.

Or can anyone give me a working alternative?

Sounds like a good solution & should work fine. All I would ensure is that the USB hub is powered up from an external supply, thats all..

All of my Hubs are AC powered, but you never answered my question which card should I go for?

I have contacted Creative asking them the same question, SteelSeries for some reason the "contact us" isn't working

Sorry for the omission!

I would go for the Sound blaster play as this device appears to be "Easier" on the main processor

lol you're foregiven *bites her tongue*

I have scoured the Creative website, searched google, but still cannot find an answer to the question, will it work off a USB 2 Hub. I know lots of sound cards, need direct access into a USB port.

This is something I do not want, because I take my headset on my travels I want something will work from a Hub (ease of access).

We are pleased to know that you are interested with one of our Sound Blaster Play!.

The Sound Blaster Play! uses PC USB bus-powered for main USB audio (400mA required). It is still highly recommended to connect directly the soundcard to the PC.
