my pc dosnt recognise new cds

my dell inspiron 530 running windows vista wont play up to date cds.older cds and copys are fine.i have gone into settings and set all cds and dvds to ask me every time i put one in but with new cds the window dosnt come up and nothing happens at all.can anyone help me please ?

The longer that I help out, here at the forum, the more unique problems I hear. I have never read any problem similar to yours. Yes, I have heard of CDs not being recognized, but never only new ones.
Lets see what we can do
Go to search, by the start button. In search type device manager. Update all the Universal Service Bus controllers (USB)
Look at all the devices and upadate any that have a small yellow arrow nearby.

I wonder how old the drive is. If it's from before about 2004, it probably won't recognize any "+" type disc.

You should go to the Dell support website and check for a newer driver for it. If there is one, install it.
