USB Headset works, Speakers dont.

Set up - Soundblaster Audigy Gamer. Latest Drivers 2.18.0017
USB headset Latest Drivers.
Speakers Set to Default audio device.

So I installed the new headset, and that works fine.
Also the speaker are set to the default sound device.
So Vista recognizes that there is audio and shows the audio levels fluctuating in the Audio Console.

But there is no sound coming out the speakers. And any device set to use the USB headset works fine, as if everything is set up correctly.

So what could be wrong? I have updated every driver and messed with every setting, I even checked the bios. It states the speakers are working just fine and still no sound. (I also checked all connections to the speakers and tested them on another computer they are operational)

This suggestion is so lame, I'm almost embarassed to make it --- except that it worked for me, so here you go: Have you tried shutting down your system and rebooting after you using your headset? Many systems are set up to require that you have to do that in order to get the sound back to your system's speakers.

You could look at Control panel,sound, properties, advanced, check it is set to 24Bit, or make changes here to see if it makes a difference.

    Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed
