No Audio Device Is Installed

So I have this error, it just all of a sudden showed up. "No Audio Device Is Installed" with a red X over the speaker logo in my toolbar. Im running a Toshiba Satellite laptop (U300-TP208C) Ive done many searches here and found out lots of people have solved this problem by going into my Control Panel, switching to Classic View, and opening the Device Manager. Then opening the Sound folder, clicking on the Realtek and telling it to DISABLE, then ENABLE.

However, I do not have this folder in my Device Manager:

So I tried other fixes.
I have searched Toshiba site and downloaded the Realtek HD sound driver and no luck. I have done windows update as someone else suggested. I have installed the Realtek HD sound driver while in SAFE mode, and still no luck.
I also tried doing a system restore and have yet to get rid of that dang red X.
I need some more ideas. Please help!

My device manager list the sound card IDT High Definition Audio CODEC but the speaker icon says there is "No audio output device installed". When I open the Sound Application, it slows down the computer until it does Not Responding and freeze my computer. Can anyone help me?

I expect it is doing that because it is trying to find something that is not there.
Try system file checker
Start, all programs, accessories, command prompt. Right click and run as administrator, Type sfc /scannow
Note the gap before/ if it finds any problems run it again. Reboot after each run.

I ran the system file checker and it tells me that there are corrupt files that it was unable to fix in the CBS.log. What do I need to do? I try to open that log but it tells me that access is denied.

Colin104 How long ago did the problem start. Can you use System Restore to a point before you had this problem.
If not run the system file checker mentioned earlier in this thread.
