Sound stuttering on all applications

Hi - I'm new here, but what a great forum.
Heres hoping someone can help........

I have a Toshiba laptop with vista and the sound has finally given up. Its always been a bit clicky, but recently its got to the point where I can't listen to the media centre or use the i-player or youtube etc. It just stutters and seems to run slow. At first I thought it was my internet connection but now the media player does it, I'm thinking its the laptop. Its also doing the stutter when I just click on enter or back.

I have read on google that it may be the drivers for the realtek audio, but when I go to 'update driver' it says windows has detected the most up to date driver is installed.

If I need a new driver where do I get it ? and how do I install it ? I'm a real novice at all this !!

Please help.......

Download to your computer then go to device manager and update the driver again, but tell it to search your computer, it will ask you where point it to the downloaded file.

I looked in your system specs but there is not enough information about your computer for me to say. Go to start type device manager go to sound expand and see what you have its where you will be going to update the driver as well

Thanks for all that - I've downloaded, uninstalled, rebooted and installed. The sound on you-tube and my media player is exactly the same :mad:. However when I click enter/return its not stuttering anymore so one thing is better !
Is there another driver that might be causing this - something to do with the media player maybe - I'm clutching at straws, I have no idea what I'm talking about really !

sounds like the movie is buffering,is your connection slow? If it is pause the video and play it when the file has finished loading
Does it happen to videos you already have on your computer?

Try Start, All Programs, Accessories,Command Prompt, Right click and run as Administrator,Type sfc /scannow
