no sound play dvr-ms or Live TV

I have HP, vista, media center, HDMI cable for sound and video. When I play recorded TV or live TV I get no sound. However I get sound if I play AVI file, and running audio test. The recorded tv files play on the externder.

I have check drives updates, output setting.

So what do you is wrong?

Your DVR/tv recorder isnt recording sound.

its recording sound, the sound play on the extender, is't also play using the head phones. But will not play sound thru the HDMI cable.

I get sound thru the HDMI cable for Window and if I play AVI file with window player, but if I play DVR-ms file no sound.

they think that your sound isnt playing, because hwen you record tv shows through windows media center, there was a serious bug which microsoft hasnt found a fix yet. Mayb you can try to update your windows media center
