amplifying live sound using vista

Hi all, I used to use my previous xp laptop with an exteral amp and speakers and it did a great job amplifying (live) sound, my kids enjoyed singing along to songs with it.

I have tried to use my new laptop which runs with vista but I can not get the attached mic to output its sound (live) to the headphone socket as xp would allow and therefore I can not amplify the sound.

Does anybody know what can be done to sort out this problem. :sarc:

Welcome to the vista forums Maxsull,
You want to use your laptop as a karaoke machine? is that correct?
You need to look for the line-in socket along the jack panel, sometimes laptops dont have a line in option but some do, the laptop model could help.
