Hi. I run Outlook on my Dell laptob with Vista Home Premium. I tend to keep it running 24/7 with Outlook configured to signal the arrival of emails with a sound. However, I'm a light sleeper and if I've left the volume higher than normal this sound can waken me during the night -
Is there a way of using Task Scheduler to mute the volume on a daily basis, i.e. before I go to bed, and then unmute it again in the morning?
I am not sure if it can be performed natively but I suspect that it cannot - because Nir Sofer has written a small utility that *does* allow for command line volume adjustment- and using this utility you should be able to accomplish what you want.
I am assuming, of course, that you can develop the Task yourself, so here is the link to the utility (I think you won't mind downloading this one - it's a whopping 75K (Yes, K, not M) - NirCmd - Freeware command-line tool
