You can download the latest driver from the Realtek website, link given below. The latest version is 6280_Vista_APO, dated 2008/2/15. This is a zipped file, so it will need expanding before you install it.

Where did you get this version from? Was it an optional update from Microsoft? If so, may I repeat some advice that you will find elsewhere both in these forums and also Microsoft's own forums. Unless a driver pertains to hardware manufactured by Microsoft themselves, then the best place to download drivers and patches for hardware devices is from the manufacturers themselves. The latest version on the Realtek website is as given in my previous post. I have just checked this prior to posting this reply.

To solve your buzzing problems, carry out the following tests. Disconnect your speakers from your system and power them up. Do you still get a buzzing sound even though they are now disconnected? If you do, and you are able to power your speakers with batteries then try that. If the buzzing disappears, then it could be 'mains hum'. If the buzzing disappears when your speakers are not connected to your machine then reconnect them to your system. Does the buzzing reappear? Check your volume levels, in particular mute any inputs that you don't use such as line in and microphone. Also, try a new cable between your machine and speakers.

If I disconnect the speakers from my desktop the buzzing stops and if I reconnect them, it reappears. I have the line in on:

When you download the files from Realtek, they will be compressed and will need expanding before they can be installed. When you click the link on the Realtek website, always select 'Save' in the dialogue that appears. The default folder is your Downloads folder. The file will take the form of a compressed/zipped folder. When the download has completed, locate this folder. Right click on it and select 'Extract All...'. Accept the default location and folder name - this is usually the same source folder (i.e. your Downloads folder). The folder name will be the same as the downloaded folder, but will be a plain folder as opposed to a folder with a zip on it. Save this folder to removeable media such as a USB flash drive. To install the driver, open this folder and browse for 'setup.exe'. Note that there are other files called 'setup' - you are looking for the application file. Click this file and follow the instructions. Note that you will probably have to provide administrative credentials at this point in order to continue. When the driver has installed, you will need to restart your machine.
I understand from your post that you are using a 5.1 speaker setup, but unfortunately I only have stereo monitor speakers on my system at this moment in time (I also have the Realtek AC'97 audio solution on my computer). Perhaps someone who has experience of setting up a multi-speaker arrangement might be able to assist you with this matter, in particular what settings to use and how to configure them.

Unfortunately that is a problem which cannot be addressed in these forums. I too have come across poor download speeds from the Realtek site and have actually sent them a message about this, although nothing seems to have come of it. Thinking about it, it probably isn't their fault either, rather their mirror download sites don't have enough bandwidth capacity for the workload that is placed on them. The only thing that I can suggest is that you keep trying and that you try all 3 alternative download sites. I have had download speeds from these sites of under 4KB/Sec before now, but I haven't had the error message about IE7 timing out because I don't allow it to complete the download at this speed. I have 2M+ broadband, but even with a 56K dial-up connection (which I don't have) I would consider this speed to be pathetic to say the least. In their defence, however, I can download the drivers from their sites at speeds of between 150-200KB/Sec at times, so I suspect it depends on the time of day that you choose to download and what the traffic is at that particular time. Just keep trying and you will get there eventually.

I'm still trying to download the AC'97 driver properly.
I just wanted to say (maybe it makes a difference in the situation) that the sound used to work just fine, even with Vista on it. One night I turned on my pc and there was the buzzing sound.

Dwarf, I installed the 6280 driver and the situation hasn't changed. I still hear the buzzing. Any other things that may cause it, because I don't think it's a driver problem.

Don't download driver updates from Microsoft for anything other than hardware manufactured by them. Always go to the hardware manufacturer's website and download them from there.
As for the buzzing, I refer you to your own post:

By your statement here this implies that the fault lies with your speakers and not your machine. Have you tried alternative speakers to see if that makes any difference?

Are there any power cables near your speakers. Try moving your speakers around or as Dwarf said, try another pair.

Roy what do you mean turn my speakers n? And the cables are new, it's a new pair of speakers (5.1 surround) and I heard the same buzzing with the old speakers as now with the new, so I don't think it's a speaker problem, but I'm a newbie so....:p
