when i boot vista up (brand new computer - well 6 months old) the intro music (when it shows that little microsoft ball logo) the music studders, the logo is fine, but yeah, i am wondering if this means anything - the computer has always done this, so any response would be appreciated.

I want to say it means nothing. What happening is the computer is so busy trying to load everything that the sound is not being outputted clearly. I had this same thing with Windows XP machines when hyperthread was turned on. No biggie. Machine will run fine.
