.xlsx is correctly associated with Microsoft Office excel 2007
.xls is not. It is associated with Microsoft office Excel 97-2007 Worksheet, which I no longer have installed.
Using Control panel > Default Programs > Associate a file type or protocol with a program
I go here with browse:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE
and choose Excel.exe.
The change does not occur, it stays as Office Excel 97-2007.
I even tried to change it to Microsoft Works spread sheet, that worked,
and then back to Excel.exe. It changed to Office Excel 97-2007.
I can open .xls files with Excel 2007 if I open Excel first. I can not open
.xls from Windows Explorer if excel is not open.
I suspect a registry problem but I don't know where to look!
Any suggestions?
Thanks
