Vista vs Office 2010

I'm getting really pissed...

I installed Office 2010 and it isn't working. The side by side configuration nonsense. I have tried a couple solutions I've seen online...with no luck.

Please help.

I'm not a total idiot but am far from being totally literate with the language...so dumb it all down for me please.
