Cant find backed up e-mails after re-install

OK. So due to a massive virus I backed up my e-mails to a windows live account (use 1and1 webmail) to my downloads. did a Windows Easy transfer to an external hard drive. Re-installed Windows 7 and Windows live mail. Cant seem to find my previously backed up e-mails?

Looking at my C drive there is a folder named Window.old (searched for CSV files and this was the location) also have similar folder on my external hard drive.

At the point of importing mail (found my contacts fine) but as I said I cant find the original location. Hold all my previous work correspondence so super important - please help!

Thanks for that. I think my problem is more like trying to locate the previously backed up e-mails. I moved all my e-mails from 1and1 to windows live mail. Then I had to start again with a re-install. is there a common way of searching for this file so i can locate it ie .CSV? Found my contacts, imported, e-mail, imported but only from a short period of time ago...(launched a website & as my e-mail provide same as web provider they re booted the account to become one, therefore lost all e-mails from 1and1 hence why I backed them up with windows live...
