Solved Flash player notice

Hi,
I am getting a persistent notice (attached) upon boot to install a new version of Adobe flash player.
I currently have version 10.3.183.16 and it seems to be working OK. I am suspicious of this notice
because Secunia does not report flash player as down level. My primary browser is Firefox 11.0
I have IE 9.0, but I rarely use it.
I can not get rid of this notice even though I mark it "Do not remind me". Is this a legitimate update?
I really do not understand what flash player does. What would be the consequences if I un-installed
flash player?

Flash Player allows you to watch flash videos say on Youtube or any other site that has them.

The current version of Adobe Flash Player is 11.2.202.233. If you like you can update from Adobe directly at the link below to see if that stops this notice. If it does, then it's most likely legit then.

I recommend that you download and run the uninstaller. If prompted, restart your computer. See Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

Next, download and save the current version to your computer. See Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player This will be the current release version, 11.2.202.233 If you wish, you can download the Beta version instead - see link above. Once downloaded, run the file from its saved location. Restart your computer if prompted.

That link said: "Note:Flash Player does not support 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Vista. Flash Player 11 now includes support for Windows 7 64-bit."
I have Win Vista Ultimate SP2 64 bit.
So a update may not be advisable.

Yeah, only Windows 7 includes 64-bit web browser support, but you can still install it for your 32-bit web browser in Vista 64-bit though. For example, for the Internet Explorer in the Program Files (x86) folder.
