Media Center stopped finding my tuner
After 4 years or so of normal operation, Windows Media Center (WMC) has stopped finding my tuner. I can't play live TV. Scheduled recordings no longer work and the FM tuner has also stopped. WMC reports no tuner installed when I try to rerun its setup.
The device manager and a hardware diagnostic report that the tuner card, an HP P/N 5189-1098 C85S009-01588, is OK. The device manager reports the card as a ViXS PureTV-U 48B0 (NTSC/ATSC Combo). I tend to believe the card is OK, but just in case I reseated the card. No change.
I've tried reinstalling the driver, a restore to before the problem started, Microsoft's FixIt beta and setting the WMC receiver service change to local.
Does anyone have any suggestions short of a restore of software to factory delivered condition or replacing the card without knowing it's bad? I've posted this problem on a couple of other sites so far with no success. Where do I go from here.
Running Vista Home Premium, 64 bit.
