i have just downloaded latest version of ccleaner, can anyone please
tell me the safest set up

A good way is to leave default, except do not allow any registry changes; but here are my settings.
I have reasons not to leave default. You may want to leave the default and make changes slowly if the results are not to your liking. Just be sure not to allow changes to registry. Although Cc is considered safe, I do not feel registry changes are necessary, does little good, but may cause problems.
