I used the Dell Dock briefly (I guess about a week was all I could stand) and found it distracting and more of a hindrance than a help - so I deactivated (but did not uninstall) it and removed it from startup. Perhaps it would work better, at least be tolerable, or perhaps even be helpful if I spent the proper amount of time to configure it - but I chose instead to simply remove it and haven't taken the time to go back and give it another try. Are docks in general actually worth the time and effort to set them up or just nifty toys (like animated backgrounds and such)?
This one seems to be quite a bit better than the Dell Dock (even the free version). Still, I imagine it will also take time to properly configure and even more time to get used to the difference it will make in finding and accessing programs and shortcuts and links (or to see what is happening in a dramatically different looking taskbar - if that's in the free version - I wasn't paying close attention when looking at the features - yes I glanced at the list but I mean lower down where it goes into each in more detail - about which were free and which required the paid version). I have bookmarked it so I can come back to it later since if I ever decide to go that route, this appears to be the better choice.
Thanks for the link. I think it should be added to the Free Vista Software listing so it will be easier to find later once this thread gets buried with the rest that aren't stickies and becomes all but impossible to locate (for those who don't bookmark it).
