Windows Live Essentials Update Problem

Hello all

I hope this is the correct forum to post.

I have Windows Vista 32 bit OS.

A New update icon has been showing on my tool bar but I have had problems installing these updates. However I have just looked at my history and can see that Windows Live Essentials 2011 KB2434419 has successfully installed just a short time ago at my last attempt. I should add that I cannot find Windows Essentials when I search All Programs. Should I have it, do I need it?

However the install icon is still showing and it says 1 important update selected 156.0 MB (which I thought was the one that has just installed), I can also see 1 optional update which is Windows Powershell 2.0 and WinRM 2.0 for Windows KB968930

I am at a loss to know how to deal with these updates, can you help please?

hi Busydee, We need to know definitavley if this is the same update you already have on the machine, so check update number with whats installed.

first off you need to install all updates that come through the update utility, taking note to see if the same update then re-emerges and wants to re install again. then we can talk about failed updates.

Hello

Thank you for getting back to me.

The important update available is KB2434419 and in history as of today the same numbered update is showing successful.

The optional update is the Powershell which I have done nothing about.

It is saying KB2434419 is available when I check the updates available icon, if I untick the Windows Live 1 and click OK the message shows No updates are currently selected when I close the window it comes back ticked.

I take it that at 156.0 MB this is quite big as it has just taken me over my broadband usage for this month :(

Hi,

Try uninstalling that update in control panel (show installed updates) & then let it run again. This might sort it out?
