Solved Adobe Shockwave 11.5 & Adobe Flash 10 - do I need?

All,

Please forgive my non techie ignorance here. Why do I need these?

P.S. My system is Vista Home Premium 64-bit with NVIDIA

I ask because when I go into Programs and Features, neither of these are there.
I do have an Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and an Adobe AIR (whatever that is).
I also now have an Adobe Download Manager which came when I downloaded the subject two programs.
NOTE: The Flash Player shows as a plugin on Firefox
ALSO: The site told me to uninstall the older versions of these two programs prior to installing the new, but I don't have an older version of either

This came about because I was having a problem with a game that worked until after I installed the latest NVIDIA driver. The game manufacturer told me to install both of these as a measure to correct the issue. It didn't correct it BTW. Other games still work fine.

Soooo, do I remove these two items or leave them as added value for other programs?

Hi, Adobe shockwave and flash are fundamental for experiencing the whole Internet.

Without Shockwave and flash almost no Internet games would work, most online Videos won't work (YouTube won't work unless you ask it to load the movie in HTML 5 from youtube.com/html5) and tons of other stuff wouldn't work to its full potential.

You can live without these 2 plugins from Adobe (1 of my friends doesn't have them installed for moral reasons) but I wouldn't recommend it until HTML 5 really becomes wide spread.

Interesting. I've viewed movies from YouTube without doing anything special and they worked. I wonder if I have another program that allowed me to do this or if it's an older version of Flash and Shockwave and I just don't see them. Is that likely?

These won't cause conflict with anything else will they?

If not, it sounds like I should keep them - yes?

Flash and shockwave shouldn't conflict with anything.

I might suggest that you update them both because older versions of flash have known security holes, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

I would definitely leave them installed.
