Can't install I-Tunes 9

I keep getting this error message when I try to install I-Tunes 9 on my laptop.

"An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version+"8.0.50727.4053", type="win32,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", process or Architecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x800736FD.

Can anyone help me get around this? I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 bit. It installed fine on my desktop at home which is still running Windows XP. Thanks!

Hi,

Install the Visual C++ redist 2005, then VC++ redist 2005 SP1, then VC++ redist 2008, then VC++ redist 2008 SP1. In particular, make sure the 2005 VC++ redists are installed. Only restart your PC after last one has finished and do them in order, one at a time. This will take quite a long time, let them finish. Then run windows update and select everything, in particular the updates for the VC++ redists (mainly security updates) and restart your PC again. Tell us if anything here fails and any error messages you get. Are any of your applications getting side by side configuration errors? Then try your iTunes install again. Hopefully it will now work. Tell us what happens.
