Use to know how to do this but forgot the trick:o
When I right click on Recycle bin I see Browse with Paint Shop Pro7. Weeks ago I completely uninstalled this program so I need to change this to whatever you recommend.
What's the fix for this? TIA:)

Running Vista Home Premium, 32bit and IE8

"Windows Photo Gallery" is the program you want to preview images with. It can't make changes to pictures, though, like cropping and stuff.

If you do want to open images with an editor that can crop and do image balancing and resizing and things, but nonetheless doesn't come with paint brushes so you can't edit pixel by pixel, "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" can do these things.

In your Start Menu, under "Control Panel," is "Default Programs." Open this up. "Set Your Default Programs." Windows Photo Gallery should be listed, even if it has no defaults set up, because it's a Windows 'stock program.'

Miles, I had no idea what shell menu view does or how to use it!:confused:

Paulie, I followed your instructions and selected W. Photo Galery, rebooted and did a right click on ReC Bin and showed browse with Paint Shop again.
When I click on Browse with Paint Shop Pro7 it shows:
Create an association in the Set Association Control Panel. At the top of the box is Explorer.exe

See if you can find it in the shell menu view app by clicking on the find button I have marked in red then typing in Paint Shop Pro7.

Typed in Paint Shop Pro7 and hit find and nothing happened nor was anywhere on the list in shell menu view.

It's super-easy to use. Just download it.

There's a 32-bit version, and then there's a separate 64-bit version on the bottom of the page. It will fix your problem.

I was just replying to your other part of the question about what else there is to use. Miles has the first part of your question covered; that utility will delete that menu option. The point is, you can't change it. You have to delete it.

ppp7 is not a Paint Shop extension. I don't understand what ppp7 is.

My mistake!
Paint Shop Pro7 is not listed anywhere in shell menu view. I don't know the extension if there is one for PSP 7:o

Open up the ShellExView Program. You see it's got a big list. All those things are special associations to do things that programs by both Microsoft and non-Microsoft programmers put in.

See the third column header? It's labelled "Type." Left click on that column header one time.

Now all the associations are listed alphabetically by Type. The one you are interested in deleting is a "Context Menu" association, which is the first big category so they're all at the top of the list.

Look for any one in that list that's made by "Company" Corel or related to "Product" Paint Shop, select it with your mouse, and press the <F7> key. Save your settings and get out of there.

Reboot and see what's up.

Didn't find anything there but was directed by MG forum and found and removed Paint Shop Pro 7 in HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\Folder\shell\Browse with Paint Shop Pro 7. Found nothing in the Classes_Root folders.
After rebooting the problem went away and everything is working fine.
Here is what they suggested:

At a command line, type regedit. Then look for these to keys:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\Browse With Paint Shop Pro 7
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\Folder\shell\Browse With Paint Shop Pro 7

Thank everyone for their effort in helping me to resolve this issue. We can close this thread.
