Is there any way to prevent Adobe Reader 9 from taking over my computer. I uninstalled once because of this problem but weakened and reinstalled, I get the same thing with Real Player it is so annoying. Thanks

How about including it on the prohibited list maintained by your Firewall? Most have such a list, usually under configuration

What Firewall? If your A/V is a suite that contains a firewall, also, which A/V?. If you give me the information, I will try to find out how to configure so that adobe will not be permitted.

I am sorry rich46, I have not explained myself very well, the so called take over is not through the internet it is within my computer, all ms word docos now have the abode logo on them but will not open as they are not supported files, the same with some pics, the Red logo is every where but the actual files are not supported, I can open by selecting which ‘program’ to open with, I really want to stop abode attaching itself to the files. The same with Realplayer it sets itself as default player.

Maybe this will help. Glad that you explained the situation. Sometimes its hard to expalin/understand with just the written word.
The above is a potential solution to correct the problem. If I can find a way to stop it in the future, I will report back.
