Hello Brummy,

This may be able to help. :)

ieSpell - Download

  • If you are using Internet Explorer, you can access ieSpell in one of the following three ways:
    • Under the "Tools" menu, click on "ieSpell" item to start the spelling check or click on the "ieSpell Options" to configure ieSpell.
    • Click on the ieSpell toolbar button (if enabled) to activate the spelling check.
    • Right click in the browser and in the menu that appears, click on the "ieSpell" item to start the spelling check or click on the "ieSpell Options" to configure ieSpell.

Thanks Shawn,
I have already installed "ieSpell" but it doesn't have the facility to indicate the wrong spelling with a red underline as I could get with FF. I thought that there may be a different setting in "ieSpell" to achieve spell checking as you type.

Give IE7Pro a try,

IE7Pro - The Ultimate Add-On for Internet Explorer

Comes with a spell check, adblocker and a whole host of other options. Pretty sure it will work with IE8 final as it worked OK with the beta and RC.

Stormy~

Do you just install it over IE8? I have IE8, and ieSpell, used to Highlight the words I was spell checking, it now does not do this, maybe because I changed some security setting? Not sure, what If I want to go back to IE7 or IE7pro?

How do I go about that??

At any rate it does Highlight the words here at this Forum, but at another forum I hang out at it stipped doing this, don't know why? But I do know it makes it hard to spell check when, the word is NOT highlighted. Then IE8 opens, or seems to, another link to do the Spell Check with ieSpell, confused. Is all.

Is there a work around? That you know of, also changing Browsers, more info on that would be cool, I know how to install them, no Rocket Science there. Just going back to a previous one, I'm a tad lost??

I would uninstall IESpell just to remove the possibility of any compatibility issues between the two, first and then just install IE7Pro (last I heard they are working on a fully IE8 compatible version).

As far as removing IE7Pro or IE8, both can be removed through Programs and Features.

Faily all of that you could always just go with Firefox which has a spell check built in.

OMG, how stupid of me!! LOL!! Add remove, for some reason I thought it would not be listed in there, I'll go look, one moment...nope not in there (Programs and Features.) No IE7, No IE8 nothing.

That's why I was asking, LOL!! I guess if I downloaded IE7 Pro, that would overwrite it. Or are Browsers considered ADD-ONS?? Maybe that's it?

I'll check that out as well. Please reply ;)

I had everything the way I liked it, then freaked out about Conficker C, so I upped all my Shields, this is where I stared getting issues with ieSpell etc, I turned on UAC, in Vista 64 Bit HP, that I run. Should have just left it alone, now I have all those lame Pop-Ups from MS UAC in Vista. Any suggestions on that, I know this topic has been beat to death "UAC", sorry about that!!

Maybe I just try and get used to FIREFOX, I just have NEVER liked it, is all.

IE7Pro isn't a browser but an add-on, just like extensions/plug-ins for Firefox. I just installed IE8 with IE7Pro and the spell check does work with one small hitch, you need to right click after typing and select "Spell Check This Field Forcibly", at least on this forum; a quick test on another forum I belong to and it does spell check as you type.

And to find the uninstaller for IE8 when in Programs and Features (or the Windows Update window) click on "Installed Updates" on the left side, and you will find it there.

It gets rather confusing, if one was to ask me. LOL!!

I kicked you down a REP point though as you took time to help me, I should just switch to FireFox 3. I suppose, not so sure I'm liking IE8 so much anymore, or I need to turn UAC off, I think that screws with everything in Vista. But Hell I fell like I should use it until after the Conficker C threat has passed, even though I should be fine. But then now I'm thinking the IE7Pro ADD-On :geek:

All I know is all was fine until I messed with UAC and turned on all of Vista's security stuff, now it's all wacky!!

I enjoy building PC's much more than dealing with the software, ie; MS software, OMG!!! Nothing ever seems easy. Turn this on, then you loose that, bla, bla, bla.

 Blue

Next week I'll be using FireFox, watch, He, Heeeeeee!!

Hi All~ ;)

I went back to IE7. IE8 is just to Busy for me. I like things simple and easy to use,
I don't want to spend hours trying to figure out how IE8 works, it's Fast though.

One Issue I keep having, (not on all forums, btw) is I GET a POP UP from MS about IE NEWS in the middle of a post or PM, what have you. It dumps my email/pm and I have to start all over.

HOW CAN I DISABLE MS NEWS POP-UPS in IE7?? PLEASE ANYONE WHO KNOWS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!! PLEASE!!!!! :( It's driving me absolutely Crazy!!

Is it add ons doing this? Or did I subscribe by Mistake? Got me, I just want it to STOP.

Sorry for Going off Topic!!

Spell Checker works in this forum but its not checking as you type (ie no red underline in wrong spelling. It will check the spelling, when you finish typing the post, you can right click and "Spell check forcibly".

Well I went back to IE7 regular and ieSpell works fine again, Highlights the words

as I go etc. The spell checker here works again too. So I'm just going to stick with

IE7, with the ieSpell plug-In for now, then later I'll probably go with FireFox 3.

:sarc: I still really don't like FireFox, but so many say it's better, that I'm thinking

it has to be...
