Basically nero takes over these file types and leaves you no way of restoring them to your favourite player. This only occurs when trying to launch said file types from IE7, not from your HDD. As a result IE7 will take you to a 'page cannot be displayed' page if you click on a wmv or mpg link rather than launching the video in wmp 11.
Nero Show Time is the culprit but there is no entry in 'Default Programs' for it.
The registry entry for wmv: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wmv shows (Default).......NeroShowTime.Files9.wmv.
Uninstalling Nero, (which takes ages, as does installing) doesn't restore WMP11's file associations.
