Before you ask about it yea i kno tht laptops arent supposed to be OCed because they could burn up but my laptop has a really great fan in it and everything idled at about 50-70 even on full load with programs tht i downloaded to test them...and my intel cpu sits at 40-50 C at all times...idk y but thts kinda why i want to oc a little bit up to like -2.6-2.8
ok so yea i kno dont overclock laptop and yada yada...but ive got some stuff for my laptop to help it and on full cpu load the fan doesnt even hit the high fan setting and my processors idle at about 40-50 C and i figure that i can overclock at least a little bit...
system specs
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 duo CPU 2.40 GH NVIDIA geforce 9700 GT 6.00GB RAM Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit laptop
Nvidia 9600 gtm oc core clock: 500>610
shader clock: 1250>1525
memory clock:400>510
its a hp laptop so cant do the bios overclock...i need some software to do it..and im not worried about voltage because i have ramclock and if i need to i can add a little voltage to my system...i did undervolt it quite a bit...intel overvolts their processors wayyyy to much lol :P but yea... if you can help it would be really appreciated.
Hey there. No thats not ur Pll chip. I know cuz ive overclocked a laptop to 2.6GHz with a crappy fan. Im not quite sure i can help for your model BUT... i can give you some tips. The Pll as people say is near the processor. Not entirely true... I found mine hiding in a corner and i needed a torch to find it. Next the name of the ones i know are ICS and RTM and Winbond. There are more but it should look like this http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/1158/EVGA-P55-FTW-SLI-PLL.jpg
Now depending on your chip you might need SETfsb, Clockgen. look on google. Once you found it on the software go slowly up. Once it has gone to the point your pc freezes dont worry. restart and put it to one or 2 slides just under.Test the stress of the heat using prime95. If its stable GREAT!!!
Now if like me you wanted to keep it overclocked when the laptop starts up download something called Setfsb Autotool. it doesn't load with windows but if you put it in the startup folder of windows. it loads as soon as you login. there are 3 shortcuts to put on your desktop. an on shortcut, off shortcut and a MANAGER shortcut. You need to enter your STOCK speed, MAX multiplyer and new overclocked setting. for this you need CPU-z. it will tell you your max. mine is 10. If you got it wrong and the pc freezes. restart in safe mode and delete auto on icon from startup. Then re-enter the config into manager GET IT RIGHT.
then your all sweet.
Hope this helps
